God is Strong, When We Are Weak

God is Strong, When We Are WeakDepart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the Lord. But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard. (Isaiah 52:11,12 NIV)

God be with me

Last Thursday, I faced flying by myself. On the way to the airport, this verse came to mind. I asked God to be with me. In my spirit, I heard, I have already gone before you. OK! David waved goodbye and I was off on my own. We set on the plane for 40 minutes. In short, we switched planes due to mechanical problems. We left two hours late. Our connecting flights were rescheduled leaving only 20 minutes to make the next plane. Then realize my luggage did not make the plane change.

Roadblocks

We all have days like this particular one. The car may have mechanical problems. A sick child may prevent us from leaving on time. Deadlines may have time on hold. Road blocks have a way of stirring emotion within us. We had various ways to look at the above situation. People could have become frustrated with the airline, upset leaving late, or be thankful the mechanical problem was identified while stationary. Attitudes change when we understand scripture. I knew God had already gone before me. He is our shield and rear guard. We have the potential to stay calm while applying the Word of God. This takes practice for us all.

God is strong

I finally arrived at the conference. This was a bit different traveling alone. We have days when we may be the only one knowing our need for encouragement. Instead of a pity party, charge forward. When we are weak, God is strong. God has a sense of humor. This song popped into my head as I prepared to leave my hotel room for the opening meeting.

A new perspective

Can you turn the world around with a smile? How about take a nothing day and make it all worthwhile? Mary Tyler Moore was a role model for many women back in the 70’s and even today. Many times we need to turn our thoughts toward something positive. I realize circumstances will not always change. We give our heavier thoughts a break, infuse a little light heartiness, and gain a new perspective. You are going to make it after all. I did! You can too!

Be encouraged!
