Hearts Revealed Through the Birth of Christ

Hearts Revealed Through the Birth of Jesus

The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” (Luke 2: 33-35 NIV)

Marvel

Marveled is a perfect adjective to describe the feeling when God does something phenominal in our lives. This feeling never changes…rather God lifting one out of the pit of hell or opening the next door to destiny. He is faithful. Jesus meets us right when we open our hearts to receive Him. The past few weeks, I have blogged on various aspects of the Christmas story. A person cannot really celebrate Christmas without acknowledging Christ. I am confident more hearts will open to Jesus this season than the media will report.

Anticipation

Simeon, a righteous and devout believer, was promised to live to see the consolation of Israel. Imagine the anticipation after years of praying and waiting for the Messiah to come. The Holy Spirit urged Simeon to go into the temple courts. Mary and Joseph brought Jesus into the temple to follow the custom of the Law required. There Simeon held Jesus and praised God, saying:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” (Luke 2: 29-32 NIV)

Hearts revealed

Many will fall as many will rise. One thing for all mankind, our hearts will be revealed. You may say, “Not mine, I am not a believer.” Every person in this world will go before judgement after we die. We will be welcomed into Heaven or sent to hell. The choices we make now will determine this outcome. The purpose of Jesus’s birth is to save all who will believe. Salvation is for you today to avoid hell. When Jesus died on the cross, he became a sacrificial offering. God sacrificed his one and only Son, so we might live forever in Heaven.

Surrender

Nothing would be more exciting this Christmas than for individuals to surrender their hearts to Christ. As with Simeon, may we pray with such expectancy and anticipation of experiencing Jesus first hand. It’s possible, call out to Him today. He’s waiting! Dig Deep Wednesday.

Be encouraged!
