Surrender: Acquiring Minds Seek Explanation

Surrender: Acquiring Minds Want to KnowDo not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

Motivating Monday!

Motivating Monday! An amazing time for these thoughts to take root. You are not here by mistake. It seems even as churches have been challenged by deception, worship leaders have written powerful lyrics. During yesterday’s song service, the word surrender illuminated in my mind. I glanced around wondering how many truly have been able to surrender. Do individuals truly know how to surrender?

Deeper meaning

Many individuals attend church without ever seeking a deeper-more meaningful relationship with Jesus. Some are so ready to shed former lifestyles, surrender is immediate. Then we have those like me- we have no reason to fear or to become overwhelmed. We just simply have a hard time letting go. I did not want to release control. Whatever our reason for holding back, I ask you to pray for release. I promise, as we surrender to God- His sweetest peace permeates through and around us. Then it’s like, “What was the big deal?”

Surrender

Once we surrender, we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. Think about this through our five senses. Considering what we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch, transforms our lives into holy and pleasing to God. As we surrender, we find ourselves in unknown territories. Patterns- routines change desiring to seek Jesus more. To truly know God’s character- His Word, The Bible.

Listening

One of the greatest skills to have is listening. I’ve always taken notes during sermons. I honestly think it began during my teen years. An epiphany captured my heart during yesterday’s sermon. My note taking has not been the key point of doing this- it has been training my ears to hear. As I lean into each sermon, I am listening for key words, key phrases just like I carry over to my prayer time with Jesus. It’s this same intent leaning in to hear Jesus or the Holy Spirit giving me direction. I encourage you to buy a tablet and begin taking notes. Then if God nudges thoughts during church, you can write down for later. It’s all good.

Believe

One of our pastors explained this perfect…finding God’s will is like jumping in a flowing river. Once we’ve jumped, God is free to take us as the current moves. Too many times, we try to hold onto logs. Let’s get motivated to let go of logs and find freedom in Christ. This message is for each one. Wherever we are in our spiritual journey, we need a fresh reminder to surrender. God has more. Can you believe? It’s amazing! I’m sharing one of my favorites. This song hit perfect when I finally surrendered to God’s will.

Be encouraged!
