Unity: Weighing Cost Vs. Reaping Rewards

Unity: Weighing Cost Vs. Reaping RewardsLet the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16 NIV)

Mumbles?

What are they doing here? How could they bring blank? Many mumbles/grumbles during this time of year. Thanksgiving week and soon to be Christmas, smiles and hugs ready for all. For all? This time of year stirs underlying discomfort. From office parities, family gatherings, or church happenings, discord lingers. What will it take for perfect unity?

Simple

Ready for this? It’s clear and simple. We walk with compassion, taking eyes off self and look beyond surface in others. Practice kindness as we discussed last Friday. Wow! We had a few powerful divine appointments this past weekend. How about you? Walk in humility, humble pie is not on Thursday’s menu. OK! Nothing taste worst than humble pie. Gentleness offers an alternative to opinionated outburst. Yes, this one will definitely ignite unity.

Unity

Perfect unity calls for forgiveness. Whatever grievances there may be against one another, forgive as the Lord forgave you. Seriously, it’s much better to turn offenses over to God. He will deal with opposing individuals. The enemy works hard stirring conflict between family- home and church. One of life’s best lessons to learn is to ward off offenses. Offenses waste mental capacity and precious time nurturing relationships.

Strength

A secret ingredient involved with each virtue- the paste holding all together, producing perfect unity. The secret ingredient is love. Genuine Christ love, love others as Christ loves them. See others through the eyes of Christ. A tall order to have perfect unity. As we ponder thankfulness, consider each of these elements. No one can walk this walk by our own strength. As we tap into God’s strength, His power empowers our ability to implement his precise plan for perfect unity. Colossians 3 is a powerful chapter. Motivating Monday! The cost? How about the rewards?

Be encouraged!
