Sinners Need Safe Haven to Feel Welcomed

Sinners Need Safe Haven to Feel WelcomedFor it is time for judgement to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” (1Peter 4:17,18 NIV)

Sinners

There is a terrible lie emboldening our churches. We all sin- yes, this is true. Satan leaves out- we work hard to stop sinning. Jesus says to go and sin no more. Therefore, thumps in our chest are nudges the Holy Spirit attempts to guide us away from sin. Sinners turn away from sin.

Truth

It’s not easy for new folks entering most churches today. Sometimes, even greeters lack warmth. Cliques are visible. Oh, I mean small groups. Not all by far, yet, these seeds of righteousness not quite free of self, steer individuals away from a safe haven meant to welcome sinners and the ungodly. If christians do not feel welcome, how will sinners ever feel welcome?

Justify

This leads to another problem- if our family of believers justify sin, how will truth be found? A false truth will be projected, sinners latch on – and all misled. Distracting sincere individuals in search of Biblical truth. It’s interesting reading Jesus’s interactions with Pharisees. He did not let them distract Him. Jesus knew His purpose and set forth to accomplish.

Plan

What are we to do? Know our purpose and set forth to accomplish. Pray for other believers. Churches- made up of people, will not be perfect. However, let’s hope all are on path to holiness- learning Biblical Truth, working hard to overcome sin. To love sinners and the ungodly, advancing in God’s purpose. To taking care of orphans and widows. When we do all this and can love those who come against us, we’ve tasted a bit of Jesus’s experience.

Come home

Forward Friday! Time we move forward self reflecting and evaluating Christ within. Making sure Christ within- is reflected out. Welcoming sinners and ungodly into healthy churches. Oh, sinners come home.

Be encouraged!
