Distractions Form Against God’s Perfection

Distractions Form Against God's Perfection“The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ “An enemy did this,” he replied.”(Matthew 13:27,28a NIV)

Forward Friday!

Forward Friday! Dogwoods and Azaleas are in bloom. The Dogwood-Azalea Festival, Charleston, Mo will be this weekend. The community is beautiful this time of year with southern charm, beautiful trees and flowers in bloom. As newlyweds, distractions were set aside, warm memories as we joined in grooming and decorating our yard.

Azaleas

After acclimating myself to festival time, I soon learned a little more about azaleas. Azalea bushes make perfect sun bathing beds for snakes. Snakes love to lay on top of azalea bushes, soaking up sun. They became distractions against my gardening desire. Just as the above parable Jesus shared in scripture, we have strong seed- beautiful flowers impacted by weeds placed by an enemy. When Jesus cursed the serpent in the Garden, snakes were forced to crawl on bellies. Not having God’s favor, nor mine.

Distractions

Weeds overtake good seed, if not diligently removed. Weeds interfere with life in form of distractions. Yesterday, my oldest child and I were having a conversation concerning distractions. He said, “Mom, it’s called life.” I replied, “Life is full of distractions, we have to learn to discern between good and evil.” A word for each of us.

Beautiful Surroundings

We are blessed with beautiful surroundings in America and around the world. In order to protect God’s creations, we have to become aware of weeds attempting to overtake. We guard hearts, minds, ears, and mouths against distractions. Soften hearts to understand, clear minds of clutter, open ears to hear, and use mouths for good. God’s Word is true. His ways are perfect.

Let’s move forward seeking truth and identifying distractions, keeping weeds from taking root. Pray we’re successful.

Be encouraged!
