Flame God’s Gift Within: Answering…Why?

Flame God's Gift Within: Answering...Why?For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:6,7 NIV)

Motivating Monday!

Motivating Monday! Happens to be my birthday and my greatest wish is for God’s gifts to be flamed and burning bright in every individual. I will meditate on this verse today, truly grasping God’s gift within me to reach new levels for 2016.

Why?

You may be asking, “Why did Paul remind Timothy to flame God’s gifts in him?” Paul stated earlier it was Timothy’s sincere faith. Sincere faith is a biggie in today’s society. Where there is sincere faith, people will not be deceived. They seek more of Jesus, learning God’s Word- accepting the challenge to grow beyond our point of salvation.

Yesterday during worship service, a spiritual rock hit me- Grace is not enough for me. I need God’s grace, yet, I do not want to stop there. I want more of Jesus, accepting His Word, adjusting to God’s ways and not mine. Glorifying God in all my actions, not resembling the world. When I do fall short- God’s grace wraps me in a warm hug, walks me through conviction and repentance, releases me into deeper waters…truth and revelation.

Flame God’s Gift

How do we flame God’s gift? Paul was to lay hands and pray over Timothy. Paul was Timothy’s spiritual mentor. It’s very important to guard our hearts on this matter. Pray for God’s direction  to a trusted church family. Where God’s Word is held infallible and spiritual maturity is held in pastors and teachers. These individuals will desire God’s gifts to be flamed within you for God’s intended purpose and not their own.

Seeking

Keep seeking God- learning more about Jesus. Be brave- bringing out our best is a good thing. It produces God’s best in how He designed and purposed our lives. See your God-given gift fanned into flame- sincere faith exuberances your being. God did not give a spirit of timidity, He gave us a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. With this knowledge, it’s a great day to celebrate! Enjoy one of my new favorite songs.

Be encouraged!
