Strain- With Great Effort…Look Ahead

Strain- With Great Effort...Look AheadBrothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. (Philippians 3:13 ESV)

Profound

Motivating Monday! Graduations are now behind me, time to look forward to what lies ahead. Until last week, I’ve never felt such a profound feeling. Take a cement stone and crash it into my heart. It’s easy to look back filled with regret or even good times and become stuck. I kept thinking…if I had only been more prepared.

Challenging

Change is challenging, yet being a parent and watching changes happen with your children is a whole new level. We’re facing profound changes in our family. My eyes were on my new high school graduate moving forward to college, my new 8th grade graduate moving forward to high school. The only sense of normalcy came with my daughter and her friends who will be in 7th grade.

Strain

I know profound changes have crashed more hearts. Not all bounce back to grasp forgetting what lies behind- helps us strain forward to experience what lies ahead. Living in the past darkens joyful days ahead. Notice word usage from English Standard Version- says we strain forward. This is not meant to look forward nonchalant. With great effort we turn our eyes from the past and strain to look forward.

Life

God’s Words are life. When studied and deposited in our hearts, we can be encouraged daily. There are days, even weeks when life jumps ahead- and we’re holding back saying, “Wait!” We simply cannot stop time. To live life the fullest, we must follow Paul’s example: forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead.

Imagine

It’s Monday! What better day of the week to grasp this truth? Need today to start a new beginning? Ask Jesus to help…The Holy Spirit is always ready and willing to help. We have to be willing…imagine all that awaits as we strain forward to what lies ahead. I can hardly wait, with God, all things are possible.

Be encouraged!
