Folly…Take Serious, Listen Carefully

Folly...Take Serious, Listen CarefullyI will listen to what God the Lord will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints- but let them not return to their folly. Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. (Psalm 85:8,9 NIV)

Note

Psalm 85 has a side note I wrote- pray this for our country. I encourage you to read full chapter, it’s not very long. Key thoughts here:

  1. I will listen to what God will say.
  2. He makes promises.
  3. We are not to return to our folly.
  4. Salvation is near to those who fear him.
  5. His glory is to dwell in our land.

Listen…

Imagine with me for one moment…We all begin taking this scripture serious. Therefore, in order to listen, we find a quiet place, removing distractions. We create a habit visiting this space, spending time in worship/praise, prayer, and time to listen. Be prepared with Bible, pen and paper ready to respond as needed. If taken serious and leaning in to listen, God will speak- we will know it’s God responding. He is faithful.

Promise

His promises are real. We have to align in order to receive. When someone makes a promise, we’ll never know if they follow through if we avoid checking. Yes, people break promises all the time. God never breaks promises. We break away, leave without trusting, having faith, and/or exercising hope. When turned to leave, Satan’s grips immediately…gloating with “Gotcha!” He’s constantly waiting to devour those in weakened states, blinded with folly…just having fun. Satan is here to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus promises peace.

Folly

Folly is defined as lack of good sense or foolishness. We’re not to return to folly. Salvation is near to those who accept Jesus as Savior, respecting choice made by getting to know Him- study scripture; grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As we do, folly is removed. This allows God to work through our lives…giving Him all glory for great things He is willing to do. The only way God’s glory will be in this land is by allowing God to work through us, bringing glory to His name.

Prayer

Tragic situations are all around…God promised miracles, signs, and wonders in the last days. Who is willing to believe? Let’s begin praying Psalm 85 over America or right where you are in your country- over all our countries.

Be encouraged!
