Deceitful: Becoming Aware, Turning From Evil

Deceitful: Becoming Aware, Turning From EvilFor, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:10-12 NIV)

Wow!

Forward Friday! What a week! Too bad all cannot see good that is happening. As with any household, success of a well run home is done by setting boundaries, creating order. This is not always easy, parenting is most rewarding and daunting at the same time. Imagine how God see us- faithful, turning from evil, and seeking peace or not? Studying the Bible, allows us to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. It’s our choice to do good or evil.

Deceitful

Most of the time, evil is sugar coated, gaining attention of all willing participants. If we love life and want to see good days, we must keep our tongue from evil and lips from deceitful speech. Success is only found by taking captive contrary thoughts before acting on impulse, aligning our thoughts with scripture. The exact reason, we need to study scripture. I have always encouraged to start reading with John or Genesis, now I would zero in with 1 Peter.

Imagine if…

Today is The March for Life, protection of the unborn. A contrast to last weekend’s march. In the eyes of God- one evil, one good. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil. With societal confusion increasing daily, what to do with hardened hearts? They are accusatory, easy to find. We can have the purest of hearts, while others attempt to trample. Simple task. Let’s move forward:

  • Keep tongue from evil.
  • Keep lips from deceitful speech.
  • Turn from evil, do good.
  • Seek peace and pursue it.

Imagine if…all people in this world, practiced each of these…most definitely would be amazing! Lord, help us do good and avoid evil. Keep all marchers safe, protesters away, and your will be done. All in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Be encouraged!
