Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2 ESV)
Heart to Heart
Wednesdays seem to be our heart to heart days, maybe we’ll start having…Heart to Heart Wednesdays. The reason conforming to this world is not good…we can never desentitize problems affecting individuals. The right and wrongs of this world have been interwoven through societal confusion. Treatment of people is no longer a concern to most. Centered in one’s consciousness, we process by world standards or we step into being transformed by the renewal of our minds, finding God’s Will.
I’m confident through being transformed, we have a direct correlation between our strength/weaknesses and God’s will. Consider our greatest weakness- we all have weaknesses. In this weakness, centers the entire reason for transformation. Centrally located is the attribute, most needed for God’s will to proceed. For example, I’m known for my boldness, blogging from a Biblical perspective relating to deception in our society. My boldness derived from being out spoken. My natural tendency is to speak out on discerned injustices in every day life. Gracious, we would never rest w/injustices happening every breath..so it seems.
The gift of discernment is a strong and mighty force…most of the time, it’s meant for prayer time only. We pray over situations discerned. This urge in me to speak out and drive home points to people, is not God’s way. Therefore, I fail often in this area and remorse is heavy on my heart. The devil attempts to draw us back, we must acknowledge by repenting, apologizing (if needed) and taking on no condemnation. Knowing right from wrong- God’s definitions, keep us from swerving off course. This verse keeps coming to mind- Luke 9:23 And he(Jesus) said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” It takes denying ourselves daily, taking up our cross- reflecting more of Christ as we mature.
Good, Acceptable, Perfect
Really think about this…what is your greatest weakness and what attribute is waiting to be transformed? Words like good, acceptable, and perfect…sound amazing. They are such a contrast from world tactics and related behaviors. Deception will lie and tell us sin is good, acceptable, and perfect…such lies mislead to hell, exactly the devil’s plan. God defines good, acceptable, and perfect, aligning with God’s Will, being transformed by renewing of our minds. God’s character, His Spirit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control begins transforming character, overcoming natural tendencies. A true blessing.
