Discipline- God’s Way, Repent and Benefit

Discipline- God's Way, Repent and BenefitIn your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” (Hebrews 12:4-6 ESV)

Fun?

Discipline is not fun, it’s not fun giving and it’s not fun receiving. However, we need discipline to produce respectful behavior, and in God’s case, acceptable behavior to be trusted for His purpose. We will benefit from discipline. We’re not to lose heart, God only disciplines those he accepts as children. Jesus’ shed blood, proof enough of God’s love for His children.

Discipline

When discipline is discussed, the word consistency comes to mind. Because…consistency in making God-pleasing choices, leads to greater maturity. My son’s first travel baseball coach would always say…practice makes permanent. If only current weather conditions would stay consistent. Many around America have freezing temps in April. Some states have snow. Tornado activity is happening in midst of these up and down  temps. Comments are made on social media about missing Spring. You know…it’s like when God is teaching us a lesson, always for our benefit in maturing…we may have to endure test after test to finally understand, make necessary changes within. Do we need to repent? Ask for forgiveness?

Warming?

Only our hearts, as we mature in God’s Word. If environmentalist will chill on global warming, and understand God’s creations are perfect. Why global warming, if His ways are always perfect? God’s perfections are ruined, by our very own sin and the case of inconsistent weather…America has great need of repentance. While many of us are ready for a consistent Spring, leaving winter and cold temps behind, let’s keep in mind, discipline = Child of Christ; void of discipline = void of God, our  Father.

Be encouraged!
