Holiness: Preparing Minds, Being Sober-Minded

Holiness: Preparing Minds, Being Sober-MindedTherefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16 ESV)

Holiness

Lots of fuel in today’s scripture. When scripture says…as it is written, wondering minds want to know location. God spoke in Leviticus 11:44 I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy…”  Holiness, once a hot topic, now seldom heard. There does seem to be ‘tug of war’ with church scenes- those pulling away from God’s Word and those pulling closer to God’s Word. I’m thankful for our head pastor, he delivers pure truth and with God’s love has tackled heavy topics.

Seeking

In order for holiness to envelope our entire being, and- yes, we do want this to happen. No, we are not perfect and there are times when holiness seems unreachable, we keep seeking with eyes on Jesus. Just this week, I had to be reminded. I completely forgot to keep my eyes on Jesus. When this happens…we forget to trust God completely. God made Pharaoh react in ways He wanted, He can certainly work all things out for our good- if, we keep eyes on Jesus. Injustices are everywhere, it’s easy to react. However, best to cover in prayer and have God’s plan for action. If we are not prepared during prayer, we’ll not be sober-minded…and we’ll get ourselves in trouble.

Preparing

Preparing our minds, becoming sober-minded, and setting our hope fully on the revelation of Jesus Christ. This is when power is infused and we are enlightened with desire to please God. Disobedience is no longer desired, avoiding former ignorance. Amen? I’m shouting, Amen! When I think back…yikes, pure ignorance many times over. God is so good. When life circumstances are bad, let’s cling to Jesus, never leaving nor forsaking us. God promises to be our shield and rear guard. We stay steadfast knowing the plans God designed for us before ever born, will be fulfilled. This may take believing in the impossible, and praying opposition away. We cannot allow satan to steal, kill, or destroy any plan God has for us. Therefore, let’s be diligent working towards, holiness. God is holy, He wants us holy.

Be encouraged!
