Esther: Capturing the Heart

Esther: Capturing the HeartNow the King was attracted to Esther more than any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. (Esther 2:17 NIV)

Esther won favor

Ladies you are loved and have won the favor of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is the King of all Kings. Men, think about how this applies to your wife/future wife. Esther won the favor of King Xerxes and became queen. She did not go to the palace one day and become Queen the next. The selected ladies were provided beauty treatments and special food. During this preparation time, Esther was given seven maids selected from the King’s palace and moved to the best place in the harem.

Yes, dream how it would feel to be given seven specialized maids. Special food may sound intriguing, yet could be carrots and celery. Twelve months of beauty treatments included: six months with oil of myrrh and six months perfumes and cosmetics. Where are we going with all this? Esther captured the King’s heart.

  1. How do we capture the King of King’s heart? We go through similar preparations. Esther went to the Palace to begin the initial process. We must do the same. We must seek Him. We have our initial salvation experience. Jesus becomes our Lord and Savior, He now sends the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts. This is only the beginning. Some never get close to the King, they never move beyond the palace door. Esther kept moving through provisions the King made. Our next move has to be made with extreme caution. All churches are not made equal. I am not talking denominations. I would love to see every Pastor of every church stand firm on the infallible Word of God. This is not the case and we must be careful when choosing a church. The more we seek Jesus in our prayer, praise, and scripture time, the closer we become. Then before we know, we will feel His presence…just like Esther as she moved closer to King Xerxes.
  2. How do we capture the heart of our spouse? As everything about us becomes a reflection of who we are in Christ, the same is true with our spouse. What kind of reflection do we want to be? Take time for yourself to enhance your beauty. God created you, you are beautiful. The spa may not always be a choice. Be creative…think of ways to soften your hands, polish your nails, and have facials. We have more and more home-made products being used. I have a friend who looks like a million dollars at any moment. She will say, this entire outfit cost $11. We can spend as much or little as feasible. This kind of investment will return many times over.

Esther’s purpose/our purpose

This is a bit different today. I believe God wants each of us refreshed. Esther’s purpose was not to be queen, this was an added bonus. She was positioned to save the Jews. God directs each one with a specified path to be positioned with a great purpose. Bonuses only come through Christ when we are aligned with His plan for our lives. We all need refreshed from time to time. It is Motivating Monday! Let’s get motivated! Be refreshed.

Be encouraged!

Thanks Vicki, I would add we are not in a harem, God loves us as though we were the only one. Physical preparations are good but when we radiate Christ our inner beauty shines through. If I had to choose Id spend time in the word and prayer and less in front of the mirror.
Then after we have our heart and mouth right it is good to be considerate of our grooming.
As I get older Im so glad that as my appearance gets harder to fix up I still have Gods word that says I am being renewed in my inner person.
Thanks for all the time and love you put into your blog.

Thank you, Dale! I appreciate your thoughts. My goal today was to express how much God loves each one of us. He created us and we are beautiful. We develop our inner beauty as we capture our King’s heart. As we seek we will find. I have always told Victoria her insides have to be as pretty as her outside. May this ring in her ears in years to come. I am grateful to have your encouragement.

Thanks Vicki, really needed to hear this today. I do wish young girls didn’t get so fixed on their looks, I agree that beauty should come from within and shine outward with Gods love. Esther shows us that God has a path for all of us if we keep our eyes focused on him we will be able to do his will no matter what we look like or how smart we are or where we come from .

I agree, Sherrie. God is always on time to give us encouragement. I could sense last night this would be a meaningful blog. We do capture the heart of our King. As we seek Him, we find Him. He has always loved us, yet when we follow His commands, He calls us a friend. As we refresh our spirit with time spent in prayer and praise. There is value in refreshing our physical. Thank you, Sherrie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
