Help! Keep Eyes Fixed on Jesus, Our Source

Help! Keep Eyes Fixed on Jesus, Our SourceLet us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12: 2,3 NIV)

Help!

“Help Me, Help Me, Help Me,” may be more accurate felt words than “Happy, Happy, Happy.” We are often jovial with Duck Dynasty’s popular slogan. However, truth is many individuals are not happy. Fear is in the air. If we ponder wrong too long, we will be enveloped in fear ourselves. From our economy to our healthcare down to our churches, red flags fly.

Shield of faith

Have you watched bread dough rise? Closer dough is to heat, more help given for quicker expansion. The more we focus on a problem, anxiety expands the problem in our minds. Before long, worry, fear, and fatigue take over all ability to pull out your shield of faith. A shield of faith extinguishes all flaming arrows of the evil one. Whatever severity of problem you may face right now, I believe in the shield of faith to extinguish all flaming arrows. Without a relationship with Jesus to understand the full armor of God, we are an open target.

Eyes fixed on Jesus

Our greatest help comes from keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus. What does this mean? How do we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus?

  1. We redirect our thoughts away from problem area consuming our brain power.
  2. Refocus allows the Holy Spirit to reveal truth and encourage us.
  3. This is time spent in prayer.
  4. God enhabits the praise of His people. We spend time in praise and worship.
  5. New thoughts are given to further our purpose as we avoid distractions.

I personally witnessed this myself last year. The year 2012 was a year of redemption and my ministry was announced. What a year! Early spring, the Holy Spirit nudged me to keep my eyes on Jesus. As summer developed, my three key spiritual leaders went through a spiritual divorce. I felt like a child in a spiritual divorce. How could this happen when my destiny was unfolding? Every time my eyes drifted, immediately, I felt the Holy Spirit’s urgency to turn my eyes back on Jesus. In doing so, God continued to reveal my destiny. I did not grow weary or lose heart. Isn’t this the goal for all of us? Indeed it is.

Jesus, our source

Jesus is our source. Too many times we look to spiritual leaders as our source. Scripture says, this one may plant and that one may sow, Yet, God makes things grow. I had to learn to place all my trust in Him. A total surrender. A total reliance on Him. He is our help at all times. Let’s get your Monday Motivated! Start your week with eyes fixed on Jesus and watch your focus turn from a problem into a solution. It’s Motivating Monday!

Be encouraged!
