Wisdom of this World is Foolishness in God’s Sight

Wisdom of this World is Foolish in God's SightDo not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a fool so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness, and again, “The Lord knows their thoughts are futile. (1 Corinthians 3: 18-20 NIV)

World’s wisdom

I guess the number one problem in America…we are led by wisdom of this world. Decisions for the American people are calculated by heads of committees in their own craftiness, down to homes led by the same wisdom. None of this surprises God. He sees within the heart of each person. He knows our next word before we speak. Throughout the entire Bible, precisely in the Old Testament, we see outcomes from Kings whose wisdom they followed. If they did evil in sight of the Lord, they dealt with defeat. Other Kings did right in the eyes of the Lord, they moved forward. Is America moving forward?

Authority

God is our ultimate authority. He opposes the proud. We should never think too high of ourselves. God chooses weak things in this world to shame the strong. He chooses the foolish things to shame the wise. On the flip side, we need confidence in ourselves to believe we are capable of a God sized task. To think outside of our box. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. If we continue to think ordinary, we will never connect with God’s thoughts.

God’s Wisdom

God longs to give wisdom to those who ask. His wisdom is more precious than rubies, nothing else can compare. It is better than gold, and insight is better than silver. The wisdom of this world screams for gold. It is foolishness to God. God’s wisdom is vital from top officials in our country down to our individual selves. We each have a purpose, a God sized task. Those who seek Jesus, will find Him.

Imagine

It’s Forward Friday! Let’s not be deceived, move forward this weekend seeking God for wisdom. As we pray, let’s also join together in prayer for our National, State, and local leaders to be infused with God’s wisdom. Imagine a majority of Americans functioning with God’s wisdom. One thing, more and more individuals would be touched to seek the Lord. If we can create a spark, we will have ourselves a fire.

Be encouraged!

Beautifully written, Vicki. Yes, we all need to pray for our leaders, and I dream of the day when our country is functioning with God’s wisdom. Thank you for the blessed start to my day!

Thank you, Cynthia! The word, imagine, struck me with awe as I wrote. May we begin to see flames! Thankfully, God’s righteous will never fall.

Profound words from the Word this morning, Vicki. Without God’s wisdom we are doomed to deception, failure and destruction.

Thank you, DiAne! I pray we both make an impact to gain attention on how much we need Jesus. May hearts soften, ears hear, and eyes see.
