Waiting Patiently For the Lord…Trust Him

Waiting Patiently For the Lord...Trust HimI waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. (Psalm 40: 1-3 NIV)

Waiting

We waited four years for the Winter Olympics and now with the light blown out, we’ll wait another four years. We wait for doctor appointments, restaurant seatings, and grocery lines. More aggravation goes into waiting, either by the impatient person or the person with the impatient person. How about when we face life decisions…peer pressure, life partners, career/finances, or trials of any kind? Do we seek the Lord? Are we willing to wait for His answer?

Waiting Patiently

Waiting patiently on the Lord? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being proficient, how would you rate your ability to wait patiently? Waiting differs when we are new to Christ than once we gain experience in waiting. It’s all part of growth. We move on from our hearts deceiving us early in our walk. Let’s be honest, we can recall heart gripping episodes when circumstances would have landed us in a slimy pit. Maybe warnings were not heeded and we landed in a slimy pit made of mud and mire. Which is apt to happen more than not when we trust ourselves and not wait patiently for the Lord.

Waiting for God’s Best

When we wait on the Lord, let’s try not to think we’re denied. Rather, let’s think God is working the best circumstances for our good. We can be thankful for His intervention keeping us out of the mud and mire pits. He sets our feet upon a rock, and gives us a firm place to stand. Can someone shout Hallelujah? This is exciting! Walking with Christ as Lord of our lives, is a true blessed assurance. Why get all muddy when we can walk in God’s best plan? To sing a new song. A song to praise God for the great things He has done.

Trust

It’s Motivating Monday! If you are in a pit, let’s pray. God will hear your cry. He will be faithful to lift you out of this pit. Set your feet on a rock, a solid place to stand. It’s possible. Trust Him today. You will be singing a new song soon!

Be encouraged!
