But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written:”Be holy, because i am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15,16 NIV)
Where do we place our trust? Over twenty years ago, I truly thought I was champion of faithful believers. Little did I know not only directed back to my hometown after college, rededicating my heart. God’s will landed me in a land of refinement and training, I call my big pot of fire. If I was going to be a champion of faith, then God saw that I was no counterfeit.
He set my feet on a course to train through refining my character, starting with reforming my heart. Last night during prayer, I prayed, “God, guard my heart, keep my flesh contained from corrupting my heart.” Remember…flesh is our human nature wanting what it wants. Aligning with God’s will; it’s no longer our desires, we surrender to holiness guidelines outlined in the Bible. The true meaning in becoming a Christian. As we can all see- the devil has been sending out counterfeit messages.
To make sure counterfeit truths are kept from deceiving hearts- we read The Bible for ourselves. We can attend great churches, enjoy encouraging messages and walk with hearts seeking world measures. The heart is a funny source- we must guard against it being deceptive (Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?) so it can be the wellspring of life. (Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.)
Oceans will rise and thunders will roar in our lives. How will the condition of our heart be found? The condition of heart determines who we trust. With God- when we are weak, He is strong. His strength will work through us- rising above troubled waters. He is our shield and rear guard. Without Christ, we remain weak.
I never knew there was so much we could know about Jesus. Can we ever know everything? The more we seek, more we find. More God can trust us, more revelation revealed. It’s all part of our spiritual journey. I’m beginning to think the day we arrive- will be the day we see Jesus face to face. In the mean time…never buy into counterfeit truths, read God’s Word- keep seeking.
