Exposed Sins- True Repentance- God’s Best

Exposed Sins- True Repentance- God's BestDon’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1: 16,17 NIV)

Signs of times

We don’t think a pig will fly or hell will freeze over. These exposed idioms have been heard over the years during many conversations. They will never happen. Did you think we would see snow and ice near the Gulf of Mexico? The Carolina coast set to have more than a foot of snow while drought conditions taunt the West coast. Signs of times become more vivid. The weather patterns change. Our culture has changed. Politicians change often. The one constant in our lives that will never change is Jesus Christ. Every good and perfect gift comes from God.

Exposed by God’s light

Jesus Christ is a constant light we draw near. As we move closer to the light, our sinful ways are exposed. We accept this as a pivotal time in our lives. We recognize the Holy Spirit’s nudge as conviction. We either repent of what is wrong, or we turn away from the light. If we turn away, we head back to darkness. If we repent, we draw closer to holiness. All along this path towards the light, we continue to have additional sins exposed. When we repent, we work hard to change behavior and emotional patterns in our lives. The closer we draw near to the light, deeper rooted sins are exposed. The ones we think can stay hidden. God is serious about preparing us to receive His best.

Decisions

In the Listening Heart Devotion, by Judy Gordon Morrow, the Lord wants us to see clearly. He cannot release His blessing into a heart clogged with ingratitude and complaining. Our Lord cannot deliver His best to us if we are not prepared to receive. If our focus is still on this world, then we are missing the light. God will withhold His best. It’s a matter of deciding to live for ourselves or to live for God? If we live for God, we will have His best. Let’s roll our sleeves up and get to work. This begins on our knees.
