God’s Will: Good, Pleasing, and Perfect

God's Will: Good, Pleasing and Perfect“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2 NIV)

God’s will

I can see a conveyor belt with constant motion between the heart and mind. Thoughts, desires, knowledge, and wisdom pull in their direction. When we become a christian, we are babes in Christ. A new approach to life exist in God’s will. The metaphor used in the Bible during this time is like sipping milk. Up until this time our minds have been patterned after the world. The world where everything goes. However, sins are clearly stated in the Bible. When Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven, he was lowered to earth to become ruler of the air. As he permeates the air, there is an underlying current. This current is an unseen force that draws people into sin. Satan’s goal is to keep as many people out of heaven as he can.

Heart is deceitful

The prophet Jeremiah described the heart as deceitful above all things and beyond cure…who can understand it? Many attempts have been made to understand the heart. It is almost like the heart pulls for self-will and the mind is for God’s will. When our self will engages into a power struggle with God’s will, we will not have peace. Why do we have this trouble? It seems we can boil it down to one word- trust. We are unwilling to trust. A rebellious spirit arises. The pot of fire will get larger and hotter. When God tries to work in our lives, He will be patient. However, we must heed James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know friendship with the world is hatred towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

Truth vs. Deception

There is a fine line between truth and deception. Satan was an arch-angel, highly regarded in his position. If anyone knows God’s will, he does. He will take truth and distort this in hope our hearts will carry to our minds for actions to take place. To “affirm” sin, is an abomination to God’s Word. We want people to turn away from sin and renew their minds in Christ. To renew our mind, brings clarity for a heart to soften and understand. Confusion aides satan’s cause. The #1 problem I see in the church, Christians who have been in church for years still sip milk and their minds still pattern the world. The world no longer notices a difference between many Christians and their buddies in the world. This is dangerous ground to tread.

Forward Friday!

Today is certain for iron to sharpen iron. May this be a breakthrough day! For Jesus Christ to remain in our nation, He has to remain King of Kings in our churches. Therefore, reign in our hearts. It’s Forward Friday! Time to reflect-is there anything in us that resembles patterns of this world? As we move forward, ponder if there is anything we do that could make a brother or sister in Christ stumble? Let’s dig deep into God’s Word and let truth move us forward. Then we can test and approve God’s will to be good, perfect and pleasing.

Be encouraged!
