Hope, Joy, Peace, Love, and Good Deeds

Hope, Joy, Peace, Love, and Good DeedsLet us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10: 23, 24 NIV)

Hope

What type of hope do you profess? When Jesus promises hope, He is faithful. Romans 15: 13- may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Is this possible? Yes, focus on key words in this verse.

Key words:

  • Fill with ALL joy and peace
  • Trust Him
  • Overflow with hope
  • By the Holy Spirit’s power

Joy and Peace

We trust God, then the Holy Spirit’s power within will fill and overflow. A two-way action must take place. This level of joy and peace will never be possible through our own strength. This power does not come from a parent, spouse, or a dear friend. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be filled with all joy and peace as we overflow with hope. Is this an immediate reaction? No. However, as we work through our salvation and grow in spiritual maturity, we begin to see evidence of joy and peace. Hope will allow us to look at our circumstances through a fresh set of eyes and a tender heart.

Love and Good Deeds

How do we spur one another toward love and good deeds? We must first monitor our hearts and minds. For out of the heart, the mouth speaks. If we take captive non-productive thoughts in our minds before they shift to impact our hearts, we have the ability to speak positive thoughts and have God pleasing behavior. Let’s encourage each other to move closer to Christ in order to reach further out to people in need. As we draw closer to Christ, He will direct our paths. He will enlighten us to know the truth to help set people free. Biblical truth is sharp and may not always be received as well as rehearsed in our minds. Yet, when we speak truth in love, we have been obedient to God. A seed has been planted.

Motivating Monday!

It’s Motivating Monday! Trust the God of all hope. As we trust, God is faithful to fill us with joy and peace. Turn negative thoughts into positive and listen for positive words to come forth. It is easy to encourage others when we have positive flowing from us.

Be encouraged!
