Christ’s Image: Reflecting the Body of Christ

Christ's Image: Reflecting the Body of ChristThey said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.” Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began speak, praising God. (Luke 1: 61-64 NIV)

Christ’s image

Doubt left Zechariah speechless, literally. He spent nine months silent. We spin as time lapses during doubt/disobedience. Can you imagine while spinning, how many situations are apt to become out of control? This is when stress enters and conflict resounds. It’s like a photo of ourselves before Christ. Exactly where Satan wants each believer to be. He knows the more mature to grow in Christ, the closer we take on Christ’s image. Satan works feverishly to distract believers from taking on Christ’s image.

Obedience

Instructions by arch-angel, Gabriel, would gain our attention and more likely for us to take serious. Zachariah informed Elizabeth of Gabriel’s message. She knew to name the baby, John. Yet, when she did, her family rejected for this was not a family name. The crowd looked to Zechariah and as he wrote the name, John, on the board, his voice returned. His voice returned at the exact time he followed through with obedience. The name John from Latin to Greek to Hebrew means “Graced by Yahweh.”

Tradition?

With tradition set aside, the prophetic Word of God spoken by Gabriel came to pass. Their neighbors were filled with awe. People from the hill country of Judea were talking about all that was happening. John grew and became strong in spirit. As he grew, he became likened to Christ’s image so much, there were some who thought he might be the messiah. However, he was called to go before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah.

Seek the Lord

Wednesday has arrived, let’s dig in deep. Seek the Lord and you will find. Ask Him for details of the plans He has for you. Process and believe in order to move forward. God honors obedience. It takes each one of us to create the body of Christ in Christ’s image. If we are not gravitating towards Christ’s image, then we need to question which direction we are moving. Choose Jesus today! He loves you!

Be encouraged!
