Biblical Truth: Bitter Roots Defile Many

See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. (Hebrews 12:15 NIV)

Biblical Truth

Unclear images are brought into focus closer we move. Images lingering in my mind the last few years are becoming clear. My how deception has intensified this week. John 10:10 the thief (satan) comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Applying Biblical Truth to our lives, increases knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We discern between good and evil. God guides us in paths of righteousness for His name sake. (Psalm 23:3)

Bitter Roots

Through processes of maturing, Biblical Truth is understood when we are ready. I was in my thirties before understanding bitter roots are Satan’s weapon to defile many. Sometimes we have to go back to momma’s teachings- If we do not have something nice to say, then don’t say it. Bitterness is a powerful assault deeply rooted building animosity until its root is dug out. Not just cut- cutting ends up sprouting more roots. We have to dig deep removing every hurtful cause and offense that fed this root into existence. With God’s help, this is possible. It does not mean other people change, keep this in mind. We walk away with freedom no longer needing to react. This concept goes a long way in healing families, churches, communities- I’m seeing a field of wild flowers again.

Body of Christ

What we cannot have- Christian denominations rising against other Christian denominations. We set aside any bitter roots for such a time as this. We have souls at stake. Souls within our churches, souls in a lost world. The enemy loves to watch Christians go against Christians, as false teachers gain more ground. We think our denomination is the full body of Christ. I see Baptist who teach strong Word knowledge, Catholic’s strong stand on sanctity of life, Assembly of God-those closely related teach the power of God- through fulfillment of the Holy Spirit, and our Methodist friends with their hearts for service. Non-denominations desire to touch on all bases. This is a true picture of the body of Christ.

Moving Forward

In the midst of all Biblical Truth, God wants us to to live an abundant life. God judges every motivation in our heart. He knows who is in His perfect will- applying Biblical Truth. Living Christ- centered purpose to bring glory back to God, for His name sake. Removing rotten seeds, clears all junk from our lives. Frees us to move forward. Forward Friday! Just as the song below states, there is a candle in every soul. Ready to take your candle and go light your world?
