Fighting the Good Fight; Humbling, Humbled, Humble

Fighting the Good Fight; Humbling, Humbled, HumbleI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7 ESV)

Moving Forward!

Forward Friday! We have lots to move forward; fighting the good fight, making sure we finish the race, and keeping our faith. Say hello to my daughter, Victoria. She is helping me write, this is her favorite verse. I would like for her to offer the importance this verse has in her life. Victoria…

Hi, I am Victoria. This verse has been with me for around six years. I was taught this verse at Kanakuk camps, it has stuck with me ever since. The importance behind this is when I have won a big soccer game, I remember the strength that God had given me to win. Knowing I have finished the race means that I have fought the good fight and in the end, I remember to keep my faith.

Races

Wow! I hope she never forgets and remembers to apply this truth to expanded areas in her adult life. This is my heart for each of us. A great verse to establish at the beginning of the year and be reminded from time to time to see how we’re doing. As this was Paul’s end of life sentiments, he was being poured out like a drink offering, stating his departure time was near. We can break down the lifetime race into individual races we as adults run every day. For teenagers, it’s wonderful seeing them apply this verse to their success in a game, giving God glory. He is the source of our strength, gifts, and talents. My prayer this year is to keep the gifts of God stirred in my family.

Fighting the Good Fight

Paul certainly did go through a transformation. A person’s transformation is hard for others to grasp. When other people do not understand, keep fighting the good fight. This means keep eyes on Jesus, conscious of adjusting attitudes and behavior to be pleasing to The Lord. This can also be considered humbling ourselves before The Lord. Once we become humble, we do not mind aligning with God’s purpose for our lives. By this time, we are tired of humbled pie. Never tasted? Get ready! Fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith.

Be encouraged!
