Vital Teaching: Be Sober- Minded, Watchful

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (1 Peter 5:8, 9 ESV)

This has to be the most vital blog for adults and parents to understand, in order to teach their children. The devil is real. He is the same serpent tricking Eve into eating the forbidden fruit that he is today. He is constantly prowling like a roaring lion, looking to see who he can devour. It’s only through his limited power of seduction that he pulls individuals into believing his lies. God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit is true, inspiring the Word of God- true. The devil is a lier, father of lies. Anything God says is a sin and do not do, the devil says…do.

Vital teachings

This is why it’s vital to teach our children to be aware, not allowing anyone to seduce them into thinking or accepting one of satan’s schemes. Once he has tricked someone, gripping them into bondage, this person becomes deceived. If this is a believer…The Holy Spirit will nudge and work in our hearts and minds to keep us from succumbing to the battle raging within, until we ignore for so long and He finally gives individuals over to their sin. If not grounded in God’s Word, and His teachings…it will be easier for satan to grip.

Seduction

Next, these individuals bombard others seducing them into their sin. This can be anything from drugs, alcohol, vaping, sexual immorality, lying, gossiping, careless words(cursing), over-eating, etc…Whatever God’s Word says is a sin, satan says is a pleasure. The struggle is real- there is a demonic spirit attached to every act of satan, constantly pursuing those showing any weakness.

Aware, Sober-minded, watchful 

Become aware of these facts in order to be sober-minded and watchful. When satan comes attaching contrary thoughts to our minds, we have to resist him. Keep resisting, until the devil or person he’s using understands- NO. Demand the devil to flee- he must flee, declaring him off to the abyss. Misery loves company and people indulged in sin loves to pull more into their cause. More trapped in sin, more the devil controls. Seek Jesus and find freedom. Aligning our lives with scripture, produces life more abundant here on earth, and guarantees eternity in Heaven. Dear friends, we have to be watchful- growing in Biblical knowledge, wisdom, and understanding; firm in faith.
