Flesh Vs. Heart, World Vs. God’s Will

For all that is in the world- the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life- is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (First John 2:16,17 ESV)

Forward Friday!

What a week! As I ponder God’s leading, I keep saying, “God, I really do want to be a nice person.” I can no longer withdraw, there are wonderful people around to become friends. Yet, life lessons and some day I will have more than enough to write a parenting book, our hearts fill with angst against leadership or seeing improvements and voice not heard, because this voice has to stay silent in many cases. When I think I’m humbled and a rehabilitated mother bear, I see how easily we can be drawn backwards. This is not what we want…we want to keep moving forward.

Flesh

Today’s scripture points to desires of the flesh, desires of the eyes, and pride. Well, paint me green and call me a cucumber…adding a little humor here…desires of flesh and eyes, leading to pride is what swells up in my heart and I want to scream at all injustices! God’s Will proves different, He no longer wants His children acting like the world. He teaches we are separate from the World, We are in this world, not of this world. The world is passing away…unrepentant hearts, as those who do evil in God’s sight will perish.

Humble

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, First Peter 5:5b, 6. To keep desires of flesh, eyes and pride away, we must humble ourselves, in trusting God with all our lives…He will exalt(promote) you, me, all who humble themselves. Yes…we see many living by the world…majority of parent coaches are there only for sake of their child and people wonder why loss of interest in certain sports, jobs are given to less qualified people, people are running red lights, senseless deaths are happening, and we never consider a famine could happen to us. A wide spectrum across the board, an area we all face, choosing to be humble…God’s Way. The Holy Spirit will help us.

Moving Forward!

Let’s move forward…no more letting the world determine our hearts. Keeping God’s Word continually flowing within, allows a stronger armor, responding God pleasing to injustices seen. Many times…best to remain silent, humbled…trusting God to exalt us and our children at the proper time. Whatever God has called you to do…trust His timing. His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts…best to align to his thinking and ways….Lord, help us all.
