Tolerate Vs. God’s Love: Clearing Confusion

Tolerate Vs. God's Love: Clearing ConfusionSo now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 ESV)

Monday!

Motivating Monday! Fatih, hope, and love…all three powerful entities to unify our maturity in Christ. I’ve mentioned a few times recently God’s love is counterfeited and defined as tolerance in world we live. I will show the difference in today’s blog. Love does win!

Love

Love is…

  • Patient
  • Kind
  • Rejoices with Truth
  • Bears all things
  • Believes all things
  • Hopes all things
  • endures all things

Love does not…

  • Envy
  • Boast
  • Arrogant
  • Rude
  • Insist on its own way
  • Irritable
  • Resentful
  • Rejoice in wrongdoing

We can recall news segments of opposing viewpoints, clearly not reflecting God’s love. As societal confusion thickens and stronger divisive lines are drawn, we need God’s love more than ever. It’s truth that sets people free from bondage and falsehoods, like pulling a person to safety from being run over. God is love and no lies are found within.

Tolerate

I began thinking about the word tolerate lately. What are things we tolerate? As a child many of us tolerated that one bite of broccoli. Yea- not a very positive feeling surfaces. Same with me and why would I want to tolerate when this only stirs negative connotations towards tolerance of things we really dislike.

Tolerance is defined:

  • allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.
  • accept or endure (someone or something unpleasant or disliked) with forbearance.

Truth

Now, considering this divisive line…because we know isolation from Biblical Truth is one of the devil’s greatest tools. If the devil can remove anyone from truth, he will grip stronger to devour. God’s Word holds answers to all questions. The only way to cut through anger, frustration, offense, misunderstandings, blurred lines, spiritual blindness, deaf ears, hardened hearts, and we could spend all day adding to this list- is God’s love flowing through every person identifying as a Christian. Since churches have split and believers have left churches…we have many giving up. Does love win when we tolerate? No- as our pastor once shared on difficult topic- he cannot leave anyone in sin. I was proud of our pastor standing for Biblical Truth, yet a perfect example of offering truth in love.

Faith, Hope, and Love

Right-  Faith, hope and love are not instantaneous. Let’s be motivated by seeking Jesus, trusting this path leading to Biblical Truth, studying God’s Word…The Spirit of Truth- The Holy Spirit will reveal all truth. As faith and hope takes hold…love for all individuals begins to flow from a pure heart with pure motivations. And..this is how we know it’s God’s love flowing.

Be encouraged!
