Wolves Among Sheep…Avoid Falling Prey

Wolves Among Sheep...Avoid Falling Prey“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” (Matthew 10:16 NIV)

Wolves

Motivating Monday! Love when scripture is written in red, reading exact words from Jesus Christ. His disciples were given authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. As specific directions were given, the above warning stands out to me. Jesus told no lie nor delayed truth…when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, taking our walk serious…We’re sent out like sheep among wolves.

Trustworthy?

Wouldn’t it be nice, pure utopia, if every person we interacted with was trustworthy? As long as we live in this world, there will be wolves. Sadly, wolves are camouflaged under the ‘Christian title.” Matthew 7:15 states, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” Ravenous is defined, extremely hungry. These individuals are motivated by deceptive forces, evil. How do we react when dealing with such individuals?

Divisive

We know it’s not just prophets who can be deceptive, anyone on a given day in this world. What’s really sad is the divisive results among God’s children, His Church. Growing in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding…establishes thick skin. When faced with wolves, we’ll avoid falling victim. Victims lose, while wolves achieve their goal- just like their father, father of lies, satan is out to steal, kill, and destroy. Anyone coming against brothers and sisters in Christ- especially Jesus’ warning how children are to be treated…are not aligned with God’s approval- by default they align with satan. I realize this is a harsh reality. However, boldness is necessary in making this truth known.

Sharp Judgement

Therefore, be shrewd as snakes. Shrewd is defined as having or showing sharp powers of judgement, astute. Sharp powers of judgement…a vital necessity in overcoming these obstacles in life. I’ve never really thought about this verse before. God’s Word is a powerful source, Jesus- Son of God, Savior of the world…warns us against wolves, and gives a lesson on how to be prepared- proactive, not reactive as the world responds. While being shrewd, making all effort to keep innocence- not giving the devil a foothold or any fuel to use against us.

Faithful

God is faithful. He will always provide a sweet reward for not falling victim to ravenous wolves. Lord, have your way with today’s blog as with each blog written. We do not want division amongst your Children. Soften hears to understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be encouraged!
