Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:31)
A deposit of faith
As the celebration continues, I pondered after our salvation, what happens next. A deposit of faith within begins to grow. Then the word ‘doubt’ came to my mind. We have to guard ourselves against doubt especially when we first acknowledge Jesus as our Savior. Why? Satan tries to make you think your salvation experience was not legit. What a damper to his party as we add to God’s kingdom.
Doubt gripped
The disciples witnessed Jesus take five loaves of bread and two fish to feed 5,000 men besides women and children with 12 basketfuls left over. Jesus then went to the mountain side to pray before He joined the disciples. What would we do without Peter? Many times in my life I believe I acted like Peter. All the times doubt rose in me. The disciples saw Jesus approach and did not recognize him. Doubt immediately gripped and they became fearful. Then Peter tested God, “tell me to come to you on the water.” Jesus says, “come.” Peter walks on the water until he saw the wind and became fearful. He doubted. We must remove doubt. How doubt hinders a miracle will be in a future post.
Meaningful scripture
The above scripture became meaningful to me when I was 15 years old. My parents worked hard and many shifts were at night. I stayed by myself. We lived in the country where the wind blew and noises would creak too. These noises had me shaken in my boots, actually, under all the cover I had piled on me. I battled night time fear often. I would recite this scripture…Oh ye of little faith. Each time I would repeat, faith rose within me and soon I would be asleep.
Jesus died for you
Jesus died for you and for me. May we never doubt truth. When we doubt, we sink. When we recite (scripture), we have might. As we establish truth in our new beginning, we must guard ourselves against doubt. The removal of doubt begins building of faith. We have much more to celebrate. We will talk more on Monday! I love Motivating Monday! How about Forward Friday? Let’s move forward into the weekend with thoughts of holiness and gratitude.
Be encouraged!
