Happy Memorial Day

Today is the day to remember. A day to gain perspective on the price for freedom. Lives have been sacrificed for you and me. Reflection of past wars and where our country stands in the present. We honor every member of armed services past and present. Thank you. May God keep a hedge of protection around you.

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6: 11 NIV)

A war we all face. You did not sign up? Me neither…actually, we did. The day we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we are a red dot on satan’s radar. He does not like to lose a soul to Jesus. The more we grow in our relationship with Jesus, the stronger our signal becomes. Heads can turn and try to avoid, yet this would not be wise. We are told in Ephesians 6:12 our battle is not with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. The battle is not only here on earth, there is a battle in the spiritual realm. Recall Daniel’s 21 day fast and archangel Gabriel had to have Michael’s help to break through the resistance with a message for Daniel. We are to stand our ground when the day of evil comes. Equipped with the full armor of God.

Armor of God

• Belt of Truth-around our waist.
• Breastplate of righteousness-in place.
• Feet-fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
• Shield of faith-to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
• Helmet of salvation
• Sword of the Spirit-which is the Word of God.

With each of these items in place, we are to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and request. Soldiers check their equipment regular. Faulty equipment could mean life or death. Same here. Let’s check often to make sure false teachings are not shaking our foundation. Do our choices reflect Christ’s righteousness? How does peace rule in our lives? Strife welcomes every evil practice. Thickness of our shield determines the flame intensity we can extinguish. Without salvation, the helmet would be worthless. The sword of the spirit is the only offensive weapon we have. The level of our Word knowledge will determine the sharpness of our sword. How is your armor of God?
