Adventure in Shining Our Lights For Christ

Adventure Of Shining Our Lights For Christ“…the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” (Matthew 4: 16, 17 NIV)

Jesus

Isaiah foretold Jesus’s coming. Matthew wrote to a Jewish audience, connecting prophetic words to present day. The land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles were people living in darkness. Upon Jesus’s arrival a light dawned. New opportunities came to these individuals. Did they repent? Possible some were part of the 3,000 saved the day of Pentecost?

Light of the World

As we discussed last Friday, we are now the light of the world. We can look back on Jesus’s example. Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee and spotted Peter and Andrew. They were fishing. Jesus says, “Come, follow me. I will make you fishers of men.” Scripture notes, at once they left their nets and followed Jesus. Next, He calls James and John. Immediately, they left their boat and father to follow Jesus.

Adventure

Interesting…words like “immediate” and “at once” showed no hesitation. These men followed Jesus from the beginning of His ministry. Wouldn’t we do the same in darkness and light appeared? We would follow the light. This is why it’s detrimental today, for us to be a shining light. We need to be this city on a hill that cannot be hidden. Imagine the difference between those who followed and those who remained in the dark. Jesus’s twelve disciples went on an adventure of a lifetime. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John share experiences from their viewpoint. We have the Bible, they had Jesus in the flesh.

Thankful

I’m thankful for all who visit this site. If you have never experienced this adventure of following Jesus, He says…“Come.” Keep in mind, an adventure is not always filled with high points. This is part of the adventure. There are times to learn, time to follow, time to lead, and time to rest. There is the unexpected and a time when walking by faith is our only option. Jesus is always with us through the Holy Spirit. He never leaves or forsakes His Children. As we draw near to Jesus, He draws near to us. If you are in a place where your light is not shining. Please pray and ask Jesus for direction. He is the light to our paths and a lamp to our feet. When we remove self-will, His plan is more than we could ever imagine.

Motivating Monday!

It’s Motivating Monday! Even if you are a Christian with a dim light. Take this step of faith today and begin a new adventure with Christ.

Be encouraged!
