“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5: 14,15 NIV)
Lights
Christmas lights are beautiful. As I was out last night, only a few homes continue to shine bright. This brought an image to my mind how we must appear to Christ. For every homeowner who packs away their decorations, lights go out. Consider how many homes this represents across America. A nation full of lights down a gradual decline to a few.
News
News yesterday was almost unbelievable. An illegal drug is now legal to sell in two states. One state now allows genders to choose bathroom preference. Have they considered this is a violation to others? Federal judges over-ruling the majority vote of the people. Our constitution threatened and Biblical truth ignored, develops a troubled nation.
Standards
Having a 15 year old, opens our eyes to how the world is grabbing at our kiddos like the men of Sodom and Gomorrah grabbed for the angels.(more of an image of attempting to pull angels into sin in general) As a parent, this is very nerving. God-pleasing parents, will not make popular decisions. We have to be ok with this. I took back a Xbox game that went against standards in our home. What type of standards do we set for ourselves? First time a standard is broken, there will be ease to break more. Satan waits to engulf each one of us into sin and crush lights not to shine again. So he thinks.
Humble Ourselves
When we humble ourselves to pray, rebellion will be forgiven. God longs for His children caught in sin to return to Him. The popular mojo of our day, leads to darkness. Standing with Biblical truth, represents God’s light. We may feel alone sometimes, yet our light will help others shine their lights. Forward Friday! Let’s move forward evaluating how our lights shine. If ground has been lost to the enemy, time for this area to be reclaimed. Light will help. The more we surround ourselves with light, stronger our lights become.
