My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with my soul. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exhausted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth. (Psalm 108: 1,4,5 NIV)
Songs
Each time I attend a writer’s conference, I’m given a song within my soul. Old songs, new songs, songs that fit exactly where I am in my spiritual journey. The worship song, Sanctuary, surfaced yesterday. This song, I’ve not thought about in years. Although, I am confident we sang this song every Sunday as a child. When the Lord brought this to my attention, a sweet embrace took effect.
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary…
pure and holy, tried and true…
with thanksgiving,
I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.
Impact
A light flashed through my mind. One of my amazed moments. God amazes me. A song from my childhood, the impact not fully understood. Is now a song that I desire to fulfill with all my heart. Today, marks my two year anniversary stepping out into an unknown territory. I marvel looking back on the path I’ve walked. However, here at Mt. Hermon Writer’s Conference, I fully embraced my call to write.
Destiny
When we get down to business with God and our destiny, we will be stretched and pulled. Say goodbye to your comfort zone. Tears flowed that morning two years ago. I was like…God, I do not know anything about any of this. His sweet whisper…Vicki, embrace this is what I have for you.
Sensitive
Truth of the matter, we do not have to know in the beginning. God promises to equip those He calls. Equip is exactly what He does. We have to continue to be sensitive to His leading. We can stay sensitive through songs of worship and Bible study. Trust me, I have pout sessions with God from time to time. I can envision God shaking His head…saying Vicki, Vicki, Vicki with a smile.
God loves you
God loves each one of us so much. He desires to shower us with His best. Why do we want to settle for good? Sometimes, we settle for what is not good. What has God asked you to do that’s been dismissed? What songs stir in your spirit? Forward Friday! Moving forward with songs of praise.
Be encouraged!
