Military Remembered: Our Freedom Is Not Free

Military Remembered: Our Freedom Is Not FreeBut this word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God: “Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, to the whole house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, ‘This is what the Lord says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.'” So they obeyed the word of the Lord and went home again, as the Lord had ordered. (1Kings 12: 22-24 NIV)

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! Picture with me a semi circle around the alter spaced with military flags. Military from the audience were invited to stand beside their respective flag. Individuals of all ages represented each rank of military. This was a moving experience during yesterday’s church service we attended. Our freedom is not free. It comes at a cost. Family time to family members, sacrifices are made by selfless individuals for our freedom.

Military

America is the land of the free, due to our military. I wonder how individuals view today. Does gratitude fill each heart? Times of noted unity came during the American Revolution, Pearl Harbor, WWII, and 9-11. Sadly, unity never lasted. We seem more divided now than ever. I guess folks during the Civil war would disagree. Could Americans be pushed to face other Americans once again over cultural differences? Christians would be wise to awaken to the attack on Biblical truth. We serve a patient God, yet, the Bible is clear sin destroys.

Israel

Conflict divided Israel into two countries. The North remained Israel and the South became Judah. The Lord did not want brothers fighting against each other. When Leaders obeyed the Lord, they prospered. When they chose not to listen, they would be defeated. Yes, I am convinced, God is in complete control. Many times we see in scripture, a leader doing evil in the sight of the Lord, shines light on all who are doing right in the eyes of the Lord. This is true for today. When we obey the word of the Lord, we do right in the eyes of the Lord. If we do not listen, there will be consequences to sin.

We remember

As we salute our military, we remember those who sacrificed their life for our freedom. A true example of serving others, serving a nation. We are grateful. Thank you for serving our country.

Be encouraged!
