Conviction: Removing Tangled Messes, Called Sin

Conviction: Removing Tangled Messes, Called Sin Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgement in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me…(John 16:7b-9 NIV)

Conviction

Speak about conviction of sin and most turn their heads. News on convicts- we tune our ears and eyes. Start our week with outcast – cast out and end with conviction- convict. Conviction is prompted by The Holy Spirit, our Counselor sent by Jesus, to turn us away from sin. Conviction is not meant to make us comfortable, it’s meant to bring change. Removing sin from our life, allows the Holy Spirit room to lead towards Biblical Truth.

Tangled mess

Consider sin like a clogged pipe. No bottle of drano will fix this clog. Sin causes tangled messes. More sin is allowed, more tangled life becomes. The Holy Spirit is a free gift when Jesus becomes our Savior. He permeates our inner being- nudging conviction, pointing to paths of righteousness, leading to holiness. More our Word knowledge increases, better equipped we become to discern between good vs. evil.

Deception

Believers dismissing conviction, accepts sin as permissible, leads lost world to be justified. All a false presumption, deception at work. Conviction is a positive force. Last night my husband and I dined out. My eyes caught this one server, dressed in a black shirt, meant to only clean tables. The Holy Spirit quickened my awareness, in my heart I knew- I was being reminded my place in this world. Matthew 20:28 Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. With surrendered lives to Christ, they’re no longer our own.

Forward Friday!

Forward Friday! Moving forward understanding conviction is a tool used to bring out God’s best. Makes room for spiritual growth, igniting a hunger and thirst for righteousness. It’s a process experienced during seasons of time. Are you willing? All Jesus wants is a willing heart. He is merciful and amazing, our God- seems I live in awe. Conviction becomes our best friend, if we’re willing.

Be encouraged!
