Sin Progresses- Spiritual Truth Necessary

Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.” (Genesis 18:20,21 NIV)

Personalities

Forward Friday! This weekend, may we think long and hard what is about to be written and read. As certain corporate and media personalities declared yesterday, their happiest day ever. A sadness gripped my heart. As these personalities project acceptance and draw struggling individuals into their sin, deception heightens. Ministers who walk away from this topic or become lukewarm will be held accountable. Sexual sins are sinful. Wages of sin is death.

Petitions

Abraham petitioned God, asking for Sodom to be spared if 50 righteous people. The Lord stated if he found 50 righteous, He would spare the whole place for their sake. Abraham went all the way down to 10- if 10 righteous were found. The Lord answered, “For the sake of 10, I will not destroy it.” Two angels were sent and men from every part of Sodom- both young and old, surrounded Lot’s house. These men wanted sex with male guest. Lot offered his daughters trying to detour such a wicked thing. Lot, an outsider, was accused of playing judge. He was threatened to have worse done to him. The outside men kept pressuring Lot.

Sin

The outcome- men became blind and angels led Lot, his wife, and two daughters out of Sodom and Gomorrah. Not even ten righteous individuals were found. Their sexual sins, arrogance, overfed, and unconcern led God’s wrath to prevail. Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. Romans 1 details progression of sin:

1. Thinking becomes futile.
2. Foolish hearts become darkened.
3. They claim to be wise, they become fools.
4. God gives over to sinful desires of hearts.
5. Truth exchanged for a lie.
6. Created things worshiped vs. The Creator.

Deception

We are able to stop progression of sin by taking captive thoughts before they ever progress to our hearts. Satan is using every means of communication to magnify deception. Once given over to sin, minds become depraved. Individuals will do what they ought not to do. These same individuals are tugging hearts of family and friends to accept. Accepting one’s sin is like handing them over to satan. Will you be the one to pull our side of the rope, stronger, with God’s help? Satan is certainly on the opposing end trying hard to claim your loved one.

Moving Forward

Today, Sodom and Gomorrah is thought beneath the Dead Sea. However, America still has a chance to repent. Let’s move forward through prayer and fasting, speaking truth in love. Wake the slumbering and help individuals turn away from sin. All things are possible to those who believe. Let’s choose to believe it’s possible for America to turn away from path of destruction.
