Norm? Change…Key Component to Surrender

Norm? Change...Key Component to SurrenderWhile they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in clothes and placed him in a manger, because there was no room in the inn. (Luke 2: 6, 7 NIV)

Change

What happens when circumstances do not go as expected? How do we react? Mary, mother of Jesus, sets one of the most amazing examples of surrender. A key component to surrender is accepting change of plans. Not easy for many folks. Traditions become engraved in our hearts and minds, we assume our norm will always be our norm.

Norm?

No, it’s not our norm to be visited by angel, Gabriel. God’s plan is not always given to us straight forward. Where we can align ourselves with Mary’s example- have a willing heart. God is omnipotent. He is all-knowing. He already knew Mary could be trusted. To be the mother of Jesus, was a very high call. As she accepted her calling, she immediately began adjusting to changes. Oh, the gossips had reason to stir. She became pregnant as a virgin. This did not deter her focus. Nor should nay-sayers detour any of us from our calling.

Unity

Every part of God’s unified body, work together to change our world. Every person is necessary, and with more individuals- stronger power working together. This would be a great norm to establish. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12  Let pray hearts are willing, accepting God’s call. The enemy loves to bring doubt, confusion, strife, anything to prevent one from carrying out their God-given purpose.

Peace

Mary likely never considered her firstborn would arrive in a stable. The King of all Kings would be placed in a manger. Change is not always comfortable. Change stretches our inner core, expanding our minds, to think beyond normal circumstances. Days before Christmas, as last minute preparations are made, I pray peace over you. May God flood hearts and minds with clarity to see His purpose unfold. Like never before, we need God’s unified body coming together fulfilling each one’s purpose. Motivating Monday! Let’s become motivated to do our part.

Be encouraged! May this song, comfort anyone stressed.
