Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. (James 4:10 NIV)
Forward Friday!
Forward Friday! Moving forward with thoughts concerning humbleness. More than likely once in our lives we’ve yielded to an authority figure to put on our ‘Sunday best.’ This has nothing to do with church, yet, an important impression to be made. We sat straightening backs, shirts tucked in, and skirts pulled below knees. How does this image reflect humbleness?
Humbleness
It’s not natural for most children to sit within such boundaries. Children are in training to become adults. Sure- some adults never leave childish ways. Same goes for Christians. Christians trade ways of the world for hearts conformed to Christ. Part of the transformation occurs when pride is replaced for humbleness. If not, we’ll have our share of humble pie, leaving a residual taste to be reminded.
People
People matter to God, they matter to us. No sense waiting for validation- it’s crazy hard for most to compliment a person. When really a kind word goes a long way. Humbleness reigns in hearts that look into eyes longing to be encouraged. Perceptions are dangerous. How someone is viewed through one set of eyes, may not be truth. Humbleness reigns in hearts not making perceptions.
Example
Living daily with humbleness- no longer thinking highly of ourselves. Clothed with modesty, meekness, and respect towards others, they become more important. Exemplifying Jesus on earth. Do we present ourselves for others to see Jesus? I confess- not always. God’s been dealing with me to show more joy. He knows deception in this world weighs heavy on my heart, yet the joy of the Lord is our strength.
Lifted up
Moving forward with a humble heart, being lifted up above life situations. Presenting Christ to individuals crossing our paths through hearts reigning in humbleness. It’s a tall order. I am confident God will give opportunities today to test our hearts. Will humbleness reign or pride? Oh my! We better be ready!
Be encouraged!
