Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:7,8 ESV)
Hope
Motivating Monday! Another week with hopes to change ____. How would you end this sentence? I expressed mine last week, a battle in my mind: Spirit vs. flesh. The Holy Spirit, desires sowing into the Spirit, including seeking Jesus and His teachings. My flesh desires to place food as a false god. The more I become aware of my food tendencies, more out of balance I’ve noticed.
Redemption
It’s frightening the availability of drugs to our children and mankind. Interesting, early 1900’s legal alcohol became illegal for a time. Satan grips individuals into addictions deceiving minds- thinking we still have control. The only way to gain control, is to become serious about breaking loose. The power of God working in our life, is a great force to have working on our side. Through sowing to the Spirit and prayer/fasting, change takes hold redeeming experiences necessary.
Prayer/Fasting
If you have never fasted, I encourage you to take small steps. For me, I began my first serious fast for seven days from wake up till 11am. This does not sound like much, however, disciplining our flesh over unhealthy habits is a battle. This meant giving up my morning doughnut and Mountain Dew. I fasted for direction of my oldest child’s speech. God gave amazing new direction to treatment plans after this week. This fast was 13 years ago and even with several more years of therapy, his speech was completely restored.
Seeking
God is faithful. When seeking to sow to the Spirit, not only reaping eternal life, we feel God’s power working in our daily life. It’s easy to look at individuals making poor choices, when satan uses innocent items to corrupt others. It not only corrupts flesh, walls are built around inner Spirit. If our Spirit man is blocked, our flesh gouges us with more corruption.
Sowing
Let’s become motivated- really motivated. Tap into God’s power through prayer and fasting, making necessary changes for an abundant life. Sowing good things, not rotten. If not, we’ll reap rough times. Avoid mocking God- not good. Keep satan from deceiving. Sowing to the Spirit- good things are sown, good things we’ll reap.
Be encouraged!
