Perfect- Whose Definition Do We Trust?

Perfect- Whose Definition Do We Trust?Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17 ESV)

Forward Friday!

Forward Friday! Yes, this verse was used not long ago, however, further thoughts prevail. Thinking on God’s perfect gifts last night, I was hit with this…”Vicki, whose definition of perfect do individuals use?” WOW, Lord, I never considered my version of perfect may be different than your version.

Evaluate

In order to move forward in life, to overcome obstacles, to find true joy in God’s good and perfect gifts- we embrace seeking a path to understand Jesus better. Stopping to evaluate if God had been given any consideration. I see friends and acquaintances struggle over this very point. I’ve struggled over this very point. Victoria and I were waiting for a flight to take off the other night- when a young man rushed on, out of breath, overjoyed he made his flight- and then damned God. Turning around, I asked, “Did you consider God may have been the one to help you make this flight?” He responded with a novice thought- “Oh.”

Journey

Where ever we are on this journey called life, these thoughts are perfect timing. You or someone you know- may have no need for Jesus. I would say to that person- you never know who might be praying for you. Praying that God would protect you and make your paths straight. God is the creator of Heaven and Earth. When God says in Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. What we perceive as good and perfect may not be the best God has in mind.

Good and Perfect

We believe in The Trinity, yet, refuse to trust. God’s definition behind His good and perfect gifts correlate with eternal reasoning and not for instant gratification. In order to experience good and perfect gifts- and I can share with my own previous tough times aligning with God’s plans- we have to surrender personal ideologies and accept Jesus for more than salvation, welcome him in as a trusted friend, closer than a brother. I found out- His definition of good and perfect are more than my mind could have ever imagined. Be willing- Life can be so much better and eternity will be more glorious.

Be encouraged!
