Christmas: Matters of the Heart, Soul, and Mind

Christmas: Matters of the Heart, Soul, and Mind“All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:40 NIV)

Monday!

Motivating Monday! How many enjoyed a Hallmark movie this past weekend? Here in Missouri we’ve had unusual 70 degree weather in December. No wonder my sinuses are squeezed and snuggling to watch a Hallmark movie sounds good…pondering Christmas.

Christmas

Closer we draw to Christmas, a little crazier schedules become. All buzz stirring and I wonder…just how many celebrate true meaning of Christmas. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man. Trinity- God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit, all powerful, all knowing. It’s not really Santa that sees you when you’re sleeping or knows when you’re awake. Indeed, we better be good for goodness sake.

Help

Beginning week before Christmas, when all through the house, no creatures are stirring, and Dear Jesus, please let there be no mouse. What’s happening in your world? Many students are taking finals, deadlines are nearing at work, people are cranky all around- joyful people not helping. Just stop- call on the name, Jesus. He will amaze you. Even those who reject Jesus, He still knows your name. The Holy Spirit is ready to help. There may be someone The Holy Spirit is working through to help you. Be willing to receive help.

Gifts

Celebrating Jesus’s birthday, the greatest gift to give him is to follow His commandments, starting with two of His greatest commandments. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” The second is like the first, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22: 37, 38) When our heart, soul, and mind are unified in loving God- we thirst and hunger after righteousness. We learn to overcome our flesh, seeking more of Jesus. Truly gifts that keep on giving.

Be encouraged!
