For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. (1Peter 2:15 ESV)
As we continue reading…verse 16, live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover- up for evil, but living as servants of God. 1 Peter 2:15 is one of my top life verses. There have been many times this verse came to mind, as irritations surface. Any time we feel opposition coming against us, we’re either going to redirect our thoughts with this verse or react. Our reactions are not always God pleasing. I’m sure years of walking in self-righteousness, others found me guilty. However, as we deepen Word knowledge, we’re awakened to necessary changes needed in our behavior.
Changes take place creating a heart more like Christ. Trying to be part of this world and be on God’s straight path is like Country Leaders thinking we can have world peace. We will never have world peace, just like accepting Jesus, we no longer belong to the world. How can we be robed in God’s righteousness and expect to keep old lifestyles? In doing good, we have to be careful not to become self-righteous.
It’s not only the world worried about our actions. Although, we are who the world sees representing Jesus. It’s Christians against Christians, bothered over success of one or the other. There is no room for pettiness when souls are at stake. There is great joy celebrating others’ successes. To know that good is happening in their lives. Good can happen in all our lives, if…we study and align to God’s Word. There will be opposition, yet, God has our back. He’s our shield and rear guard.
I pray right now Isaiah 54:17 over each one- “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” If you feel someone is coming against you, stand strong on this verse. This is our heritage as servants of the Lord, His own vindication.
Forward Friday! Let’s move forward aligning with God’s promises and provisions. Claiming scripture over areas of need is part of our spiritual armor learning to withstand foolish opposition in this world.
