Paths Straight, Gaining Understanding

Paths Straight, Gaining UnderstandingIn all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6 NIV)

Paths

The next few days…everyone is thinking taxes. April 15th is tax day. Tomorrow, my oldest turns 18 years old. As we began straightening paths during his young life, he endured rough terrain with us. Before we find God’s straight paths, we do travel over bumps. Some greater than others. First children are first for a reason, God never makes mistakes. Now raising a first child, I have extra respect for all first borns.

Love

The love we feel for our children, our parents felt for us- even if they did not- the love I want understood today- is God’s amazing love. We can all tear away hardness to feel God’s love. It’s like standing in the sun, with warmth encompassing our being. He’s a Father who has our best interest at heart. Sending Jesus, paying all debt for our sins. It’s up to us now, to stop sinning. Jesus says to go and sin no more.

Understanding

When our oldest was two, I lacked a great deal of understanding. Lack of understanding creates tougher terrain. I commented one night I could not wait for this precious strong-willed child to turn 18. Now, I could dip into a pity party filled with regret. Instead of giving satan any short term celebration. We’ll note gifts and talents prevail if we stay the course and find God’s straight paths. There is nothing that warms a momma’s heart more than seeing gifts and talents develop in their children. All for God’s glory and purpose destined in their own lives.

Flow…

1 Corinthians 13 is quoted often for weddings. However, reading daily may have lasting benefit. Verse 5 keeps repeating for  me- love keeps no record of wrong. Imagine if all records of wrong were dissolved. Such heaviness would be released, allowing more room for God’s loves to flow. Anything that flows has tendency to become choked if we’re not careful. Let God’s love flow, guiding and directing us to His straight paths. While rounding every curve along the way.

Be encouraged!
