Old Testament: Experiences/Wisdom for Today

Old Testament: Experiences/Wisdom for TodayThen the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly. He said, “Listen King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem!…” (2 Chronicles 20:14,15a NIV)

Let’s Be Motivated!

Motivating Monday! The countdown is on- a new administration takes over running America. Congress is already in session. Why would I use today’s scripture? I love the Old Testament. Fresh out of college, returning home allowed realignment to God’s direction for my life. The previous four years can count for biggest detour I’ve taken. Yet, when I sat down to really begin seeking, I asked for God’s help to understand and began reading the Bible in Genesis. To my amazement, many of our childhood stories are taken from this book. Why never a song written about Amos? Interesting…

Old Testament

I never questioned my interest in the Old Testament, I found it very interesting…even through all the tough names. Fast forward to today, I stand amazed how important it is to read the Old Testament. Last few decades, a push to dismiss would result much wisdom and experiences left out helping us understand what America is facing today. Do I believe President- Elect Donald Trump is part of end times? We are all part of end times, yet, I see him as a reprieve in order to allow time for Americans to repent from sin.

God’s Spirit

When the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, God used him as a messenger. All men, wives, and children were together seeking the Lord. He first had to be seeking in order for God’s Spirit to come upon him. In the process, he gave clear directions on how they were to proceed, facing a vast army. His last words in verse 17 were, “You will have to fight this battle, take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you!”

Truth

The Lord will help Israel and do what’s best for them. He has since the beginning of time. Sending them into captivity came after much rebellion. How much rebellion will America keep going, before repenting and realigning with God’s purpose? We cannot remain in sin, and expect to have the Spirit of the Lord to fall upon us. No, not all are called to be God’s messengers, yet, we are all called to repent from sin. Seek Jesus, truth will be revealed. If a person is not seeking, they can easily be misled, possible to the point of being deceived; believing lies projected into our society. Let this not be you or me- let’s be motivated to seeking Jesus for Truth.

Be encouraged!
