The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours.” (Luke 4:5-7 NIV)
Moving Forward!
Forward Friday! Fast forward from Genesis to Luke, the devil never changes his tactics. He is always twisting truths to blend lies within, making believable for those less grounded in God’s Word. Individuals can attend church for years, even become members, and never mature beyond point of salvation. This is alarming- nonbelievers distracted from seeing example God intends for His children as we mature. It takes maturity in Christ to discern between good vs. evil and false vs. truth.
Discernment
Discernment is a gift needed for today. The devil will constantly whisper taunts in our ears just like he did with Jesus and with Eve until we decide no more, drawing line in the sand. Satan confuses thoughts and known truth, making one doubt…we become like waves of the sea, blown and tossed, double minded and unstable. James had no trouble expressing truth. Double minded and unstable in all we do…this is where lots of folks are right now. Jesus is clear we cannot live for Him and live for the world.
Deception
The biggest trick to deception is taking a truth, twisting in lies to lure individuals under their control. Jesus had spent 40 days fasting, which increases spiritual sensations, heightens awareness, increasing discernment. The devil’s worldly mindset knew for sure Jesus would be weak- trying to offer Jesus what already belonged to Him. Did the devil have authority over the earth- yes, given to him by God when kicked out of heaven. Yet, he did not have authority to give it away. Sly words…attempting to wash away truth and lure into deception.
Truth
The devil is not smart- only can repeat what He knows, which is taking God’s Word and twisting, deceiving many. All because he wants people to worship him. In order to move forward, we begin strengthening the gift of discernment. The Holy Spirit is our helper and The Spirit of Truth- He will lead us into all truth. Avoid being surprised when God opens your eyes to all deception happening in America right now. This is my prayer- that eyes will open and more will join in praying God will shine light on all darkness. People need truth.
