Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. (Philippians 2:14, 15 ESV)
Happy Valentines!
Yes, there is lots of scripture oozing with love and kindness today. However, Valentine’s Day is full of love, or lack of…just like the world we live. Imagine if we take note of today’s verse, the kind of love that would permeate in our society. We don’t see many peace loving individuals passing out flowers anymore.
Blameless
A funny from yesterday morning, I dropped my daughter off at school and turned towards the main road. A time of heartfelt prayer- Lord, purify my heart, I want to be blameless in all I do. As I was praying I edged to the red light, where you can yield going right. I looked right, looked left- Oh, I see that car, yet I have plenty of time- thankfully I looked left again, because the car sped up, which made me stop- then the driver honked at me. What did I do? Immediately an Err and honked back. I was like God, that did not last too long.
Lights
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. It’s impossible to be blameless, walking in God’s love when irritations cancel out peace loving thoughts. We have to be constantly on watch, to keep from shielding our lights that are suppose to be shining. I admit, as much as I want to…I do let this twisted generation dull my flame. Nothing speaks more of God’s love than His children being lights that shine in this world.
Love
Best way to show love to others…avoid grumbling and disputing. What ways do you love others? For my family, nothing speaks love more than for mom to cook homemade meals. I love doing this when time allows. I baked cookies and mailed to my college kiddo, made a family favorite of long ago, a taco ring at my middle child’s request. Simple…Simple acts of love. Tonight, is my daughter’s selection. What I must do more than anything…keep asking The Lord to help me in this…I want to be blameless in all I do. This is scripture, we are to obey. To be a child of Christ without blemish- a mighty tall request. It’s possible or God would not have this in the Bible.
Willingness
God does not expect us to do all with our own strength, It’s His power, received through salvation giving us insights and thoughts on how to do. When scripture discusses tall orders, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. If…we are willing. Blameless and Innocent or crooked and twisted…easy choice, may it be for you, too.
Be encouraged!
