Disasters: Warnings Taken From History

Disasters: Warnings Taken From HistoryHear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your forefathers? (Joel 1:2 NIV)

Disasters

Seems like fires worsen in California more each year. Natural disasters are devastating as conversations increase identifying source, the subliminal meaning behind destruction. The book of Joel, informs of a locust plague. This disaster is explained like dawn spreading across the mountains, a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come. If you’ve ever been in Southeast Missouri, as soon as summer afternoons shift to evenings- it’s like an army of mosquitos are unleashed.

Locust Invasion

Prophet Joel, clearly saw cause of the locust invasion- sin. As sin prevails, hearts turn further from God. This is problematic for not only self, yet for societies- creating societal confusion. This pleases the devil, because, if he can confuse minds, he has a chance to take control of one’s mind, This is opposite of God’s Words- God did not give us a spirit of fear, He gave us a Spirit of love, power, and a sound mind. A mind able to reason and stay grounded in Christ, is seeking and finding all God has purposed in one’s life.

God’s Alive

God is alive- all three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, to give an abundant life. If every individual breathing studied God’s Word, became aware of God’s revelations, growing in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding; faith, hope, and love would permeate. Sadly, not the case and sin has overtaken various churches, communities and now a growing number of states. God is slow to anger, yet, if sin is not repented…there will be day, a natural disaster is allowed to happen. Please read Joel- only three chapters. Ask The Lord for insight as you read, He is faithful and true. We have much to learn from Joel’s prophecy.

Be encouraged!
