Word/Scripture: Store Up/Avoid Sin

BSF Today! Storing God's Word In HeartsI have stored up your word in my heart, that I may not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11 ESV)

BSF

Today is an exciting day! Bible Study Fellowship(BSF) begins- studying the first part of now a two part series for minor prophets. We are blessed to have a Monday night class and a Wednesday morning class in our community. If there is a desire to know/study scripture, BSF is for you. There are men and women classes available around the world.

Builds

Stored word knowledge in our hearts and minds, builds an invisible guard around our bodies against sin. We do not want to sin, if we know what God’s Word says about the situation. Sadly, the exit of many from the church, no longer desire to live by God’s Word. The world’s pressure is real, an unseen gravitational pull on God’s people. The devil loves to entice in order to steal, kill, and destroy. We need to know God’s Word. We need our children to know God’s Word.

Pray

In my Bible written next to Psalm 119:9-16(NIV), I have written…pray over children. This reads:

  • How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
  • I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
  • I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
  • Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees.
  • With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.
  • I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
  • I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.
  • I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

Word Knowledge

This prayer is valuable for us all. It’s important for adults as well as children to increase God’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding….all produced from studying God’s Word. So to my surprise yesterday, I’m still a bit stunned by the Youth Pastor’s response. Using my connection gift- I was attempting to connect my children with a mentor to further build their Spiritual gifts. They do not want play time, nor do they need to learn how to study their Bible or look up scripture- in no way am I discounting this for others, there has to be a place for matured teens inside today’s church. And…suggesting an adult small group is unacceptable.

Equip

We cannot sit back and be swayed along in church settings, becoming too comfortable. If home schooling for church is needed- this is what I’ve been calling the last few years, it is parents responsibly to make sure our children are equipped to withstand pressures in this world. It’s important for us. BSF is a wonderful choice for both- if classes are offered for older children. Thankful my kiddos spent formative pre-school ages studying with BSF. Powerful! Oh, Lord, help us all to store your word in our hearts, that we may not sin against you.

Be encouraged!
