Standing Firm: Careful Avoiding Pitfalls

Standing Firm: Careful Avoiding PitfallsThese things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall. (1 Corinthians 10:11, 12 NIV)

Motivating Monday!

Good news! Keeping eyes on Jesus, His Word, keeps eyes on Him and not people. People are human and as much as we want to think highly of someone, they are apt to disappoint. The Bible guides us through becoming mature, gaining depth, strength, and ability to resist looking elsewhere. Today’s scripture in 1 Corinthians is a valuable teaching lesson.  Standing firm is key to survival during societal confusion, and which side we’re standing firm is a matter of life or death. Really.

Examples/Warnings:

Examples and written down warnings (1 Corinthians 10:6-10):

  • Do not be idolaters- avoiding self-ideology, aware of false teachings.
  • Do not commit sexual immorality- in one day, 23,ooo individuals died.
  • Do not test The Lord- some were killed by snakes.
  • Do not grumble- some killed by destroying angels.

A popular teaching in today’s culture, points to the Bible’s Dos and Don’ts as wrong. When young parents prepare for their first baby- the dad will always want a guidebook, hoping for directions. All preparations made for first time parents, why think any less of our Heavenly Father inspiring scripture for our good. It’s a book of life, to ensure eternal life in Heaven.

Standing Firm

Many false teachings, false prophets, false religions…all trying to sprinkle enough truth in to make as many who fall victim- believe and be led astray. The devil is a lier, Father of lies. He’s a deceiver, and cannot be trusted. When our first thought is truth, and next thought is pushed through by flesh desires- take notice. The devil is trying to weaken what we know to be true in God’s Word. Scripture teaches every contrary thought must be taken captive, keeping thought from becoming an action, standing firm. This is the reason for thinking on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellence, worthy of praise…think on these thoughts. If we do, we will be kept from pitfalls.

Dear friends, let’s be motivated- standing firm.

Be encouraged!
