Hostility: Crept In America, Now Loud and Proud!

Do Evil? Answer Is....But Abram said, “O Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” (Genesis 15:2, 3 NIV)

Then the Word of the Lord came to him:”This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars- if indeed you can count them.” The he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (Genesis 15:4,5 NIV)

When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking fireboat with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates- the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites,Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.” (Genesis 15:17-21 NIV)

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named, Hagar, so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said. (Genesis 16:1, 2 NIV)

He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. (Genesis 16:4 NIV)

“I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. Then the angel of the Lord said to her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” The angel added, “I will so increase your descendants that they will be to numerous to count.” The angel of the Lord also said to her, “You are now with child, and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.” (Genesis 16:8b-12, NIV)

Forward Friday!

And the story continues in Genesis. Genesis is full of historical truth. Earlier yesterday, I asked God, “Why did you allow Ishmael be born and have all this trouble?” He simply responded, “I didn’t, Abram and Sarai did.” Disobedience- taking God’s plan in our own hands, no longer willing to wait…leads to big trouble.

Hostility

Muslim Nations hating Israel and America, carry Ishmael’s hostility toward all his brothers- our direct path from Isaac. After Sarah laughed- likely thinking how disobedience led to a mess, suggesting Abram sleep with Hagar; how could she become pregnant being so old. God proved His Word is true, Sarah become pregnant and Isaac was born. Through Isaac, Abram’s descendants began to grow. Today, we are as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Hate/Love

When hate filled Americans and immigrants planted here to hate; reacting with such hostility…consider who they are linked- Ishmael. Some by default, because of joining the band wagon. With Americans supporting President Trump, God’s people are proving it’s possible to love one another- red, yellow, black, and white- we’re all God’s children in His sight. It’s not us who are haters or displaying hostility. Given- many of us are a work in progress…seeking Jesus, growing in Word knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.

Pray!

Through God’s refining process, transforming each believer, we become more like His likeness. A process called…Spiritual journeys. When a hater hates- let it pass right through- it’s hot air. Best to pray- God, open their blinded eyes to see, soften their hearts to understand, allow their ears hear truth. The devil is here to steal, kill, and destroy- God is here to give us life abundant. Let’s move forward, becoming closer to Jesus, His likeness and helping spread light in a darkened world.

Be encouraged!
